It seems
most people
like to bypass
"WELL REGULATED"
in the language
of the second amendment;
which reads,
"A well regulated Militia,
being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed."

At the moment
many of our gun owners
(most especially the criminal elements)
are neither "well regulated"
nor a member of any "militia"

Fond regards,
George

The language used in the second amendment should be interpreted as it was
meant in the 19th century when it was written.
"Well regulated" means properly armed and equipped, as in the "Regular"
Army. The "militia" was, by law, every able bodied man between 17 and 45
years of age.
The founding fathers did not like the idea of a large professional standing
army, fearing that it would be too tempting to get involved into mischief
both domestic
and foreign.
