Canada Geese at Sunset. Perhaps today was the first day of winter
here is the Washington, DC area. When I got up this morning the
temperature was in the high twenties. It was crystal clear and there
was a dusting of snow on the ground. My intuition told me that suset
today could really rock. So, rather than doing what I should have
been doing, namely shopping and getting ready for Christmas, I went
over to the Balckwater Wildlife Refuge and chased the sunset. It was
stunning. It was cold and primal. The wind was gusting to forty miles
per hour, There was a flock of hundreds and hundreds of Canada Geese
in one of the lagoons. As the sun was setting they decided to fly
someplace else to spend the night. I have rarely seen anything like it.
