Subject: [Leica] Dehumanizing portraits?

Brian,

they remind me of the ID-portraits that a French shooter (I think it was
Marc Garanger) had to
take of Islamic women in Algeria in the 60's. The women had to lift their
veils and show their faces to an unknown man.

With portraits like these, I always like to have a context; either outdoors,
in their office, or at home.

Somehow these look like someone's trial with a backdrop and studio-flash;
rope in some recalcitrant subjects and plunk them down in front of the
backdrop and "bang"; pop the flash.
