Gotcha beat!  I had my first Leica in 1946, when I bought a practically 
unused IIIa from the son of
a leather goods importer who bought the camera in 1936 at the Berlin 
Olympics!

I was 17 at the time and it cost $200 (mit Elmar 50mm f3.5)
