For me its the sensor size. Same thing with the old Minox V 35mm V medium format. The maths was the same, but who would ever use an 80mm lens on a Minox!!! DOF does not change with a format change. DOF changes only with a change of f:stop or with a change in distance between the lens and the plane of focus.
