I never had, either, until recently but we have
had a detailed discussion on these over on the
Zeiss Ikon Collector's Group, and it seems that
fakes do exist, primarily using Jupiter-3 parts
from the Krasnagorsk works outside of
Moscow. The primary giveaway is the use of a
capital "M" to mark the metric distance scale --
the Soviet/Post-Soviet industry uses "M" while
Zeiss uses the lower-case "m". To confuse the
issue, lenses with genuine Zeiss elements have
surfaced mounted in reworked ZPS mounts, while
some have also appeared with genuine Zeiss mounts
and SPS elements. It gets confusing! I'm very
glad I got mine donkey's years back.
