Subject: [Leica] Hypothetical Trip question: M3 Black Paint & Pre-Asph Summilux Or IIIG & Current Summincron in LTM ?

Without question the M3, painted or not. No matter how smooth etc. the  
IIIg is, any M body is much more functional than any SM body.

I do suspect that you will miss something wider than a 50mm, though.
