Mehrdad's right - scanners sometimes don't travel well. :-(

I would recommend double-boxing if you can swing it.  On many  
scanners, there is a "home/lock" mode for shipping.  I would highly  
recommend activating it.  This will help prevent damage to the stepper/ 
film transport.
