The colored version certainly gives an added illusion of depth.
Yet, the coloring appears 'odd' to my eye.
I find many of your split toned images a bit 'odd.'
However, I don't mean that as a negative comment.
Quite to the contrary; I find them enigmatic, compelling and thought  
provoking.
(perhaps to "artsy" for some - but I find them wonderfully fresh  
visual experiments).
The B&W version, while nicely composed, feels boring by comparison
(and only by comparison).
In the end - each presents quite a different visual message.
