Philip Clarke offered in rebuttal:

Subject: Re: [Leica] IMGS: Children of the World

>>>But you've failed in your intent, you haven't shown them moving

forwards, you've evoked pity as an emotional response, 30 years, 3

years, doesn't matter, there is no progress or balance to the body of

work. Select another set of images, or put some others in the series

and it might work, but as presented it doesn't. Your "love" doesn't

matter if the subject matter is showing how people have built a better

life, then the work fails, if it is to promote unity then it fails.

Technically they come up to scratch but there is only one category that

this body of work really fits into, and I'm far too polite to mention

it. Nope I just re-read the comment about the little finger, the body of

work fits into the "holiday snap".<<<<

Oh my dear fellow you have just stepped into the biggest fresh cow patty you
could ever do!

For you to insinuate, nay even hint, Tina's work is nothing more than

"the body of work fits into the "holiday snap".<<<<

Either you are fresh out of the hills of wherever you are, or coming from
knowing nothing of Tina's photographic career and the areas of the world
she has worked in with her photography carrying a message of goodness and
illustrating improvement in the lives of the people living in countries
where the governments are as corrupt as possible.

Every time I read or hear people like you going on about whatever your
message is. "Save the world!" Whatever? My response as always is, you are
barking at the wrong people! We all know how bad it is because we've either
worked on assignments in some of these countries, or as adults see the TV
images of the starving dying people almost every day. Many of us make
donations to organizations attempting to assist people where they can in
some countries.

But you should be barking and screaming at the corrupt Leaders of the
nations who use their people as cannon fodder, instead of insulting Tina and
her selection of photographs gleaned from assignments while involved in
giving help and aid to the failing miserable societies and faces of dying
and emaciated children.

Sure many of these over populated countries make rockets, ICBM's, build
palatial accommodations for themselves, ride about in the latest armour
plated vehicles and wave to the masses with impunity. In reality they are
nothing more than two-bit "war lord's of the worst kind!" Actually read
gangsters who don't care about the starving people of the country.

And yes we know the modernization is always at the expense of the down
trodden. But until your kind and others of your ilk wake-up and do "whatever
it takes to change the corrupt governments in these countries" nothing is
going to change! The corrupt "Fat Cats rule!" Oh yeah and they all carry
big guns to keep order.

Please pass along my best wishes to your wife while speaking at the UN, I
trust they'll listen to what she offers. Sooner or later someone will get
the message across to the UN and , "some of the "buddies of the Fat Cat
warlords back home" their way isn't the right way. As the have nations of
the world wont be able to bail them out any longer. Right now we maybe a lot
closer than you think! :-(

Now you might be so kind as to offer Tina an apology for your rude remark
about the quality of her photography.

Be a good fellow now, swallow hard and say.. "I'm sorry Tina."

I'd bet you have no idea how deep that cow paddy is you stepped in with your
cheap shot comment!

Cheers,

Dr. ted
