As usual in the Spring, I offer a picture of  spiderwort  because the
flowers hang like spiders from a web. "Wort" is the Saxon name for ?plant?.
   Some places it is Cow Slobber, because of the gelatinous sap in the
stem.  It is a volunteer, native to these parts, but in some places it is
cultivated and even grown as a houseplant.
