Gene, the "I cannot go out shooting with one kit?" attitude seems the  
problem.
Of course you can;
you can go out shooting with one body and lens.

It's all about "intention" and "purpose."
If you need to take everything you own out on a shoot
it indicates that you don't know why you're going out "on a shoot."
(and that's fine and fun - to head out and discover the purpose as  
you go).

However, if you go out with the intention
of learning everything possible about
your environment and way of seeing through a 50mm lux;
then that's all you need to take.

Just as if your intention and purpose
is to get the most incredible details of birds in the wild
requires telephoto; the 15mm just won't help; so why take it?

Intention and purpose makes for the smallest kit.
