When my dad started as a post office engineer in the UK in the early 
fifties, one of his first jobs was putting up things like that. He 
called them telegraph poles. :-)

Seriously though, it does make a fascinating contrast to the winding 
path - a very good shot!! Interesting how "art" can be so simple but so 
effective.
