While I'd love to see proper use of these various terms;
I fear we've already lost this possibility.

If we who've actually known and used:
direct view cameras

coupled range finders
optical view finders (with or without parallax correction)

single lens reflex systems
twin lens reflex systems (perhaps with mechanical parallax correction  
devices)

electronic view finder systems
LED screen view finders

choose not to use the terms correctly

the new kids certainly won't know one from the other
