Subject: [Leica] Are we no longer wanted?

Well it appears (to me)
that Leica designs a builds fine, high quality, desirable products
and markets them sufficiently well
to have a reasonable supply and demand ratio
for a small company with limited production capacity
due to having made reasonable choices in quality.

They are not and never have been "a nikon or canon or panasonic or ???"

Have they remained behind in auto-focus and digital development?
Yes.
Do I care?
No.

Have they remained at state-of-the art in optical and mechanical  
quality?
Yes.
Do I care?
Yes.

If I want auto-focus and other bells and whistles
I have literally hundreds of choices.
