I think there comes a point in the long lens area where a rangefinder system is no longer more accurate than an SLR but less accurate. Leica would not want to pass that point. I think its right around 100mm without magnifiers or the use of an M3 or M5. I've always found shooting with a 135 on my M6's very viable and valuable the little frame set never phased me. The 135 3.4 APO was always well worth it to me. It was one of my first lenes before I got my 35mm lens even. A full step and a half up from the Nikon quality I was used to.
