Rust is your biggest enemy here so if I were you, I'd invest in a 
small?gunsafe and put my treasured gear in long term storage gunbags, after 
you have coated the metal surfaces?w/ Rennaissance Wax

device inside to inhibit moisture buildup 24/7. Now that's safe!

I'm really curious about this bit.? I keep a lot of gear in such
containers with pull-out drawers and had not heard this before.
