I wanted to use this to allow me to mount my lens ahead of the tripod
mount with the focusing unit behind the tripod mount. That would allow
me to do macro photography without changing the magnification when
focusing. The distance from the objective to the subject must remain
constant for the magnification not to change. The only way to do that,
is to keep the lens stationary, and move the film plane instead.
