Subject: [Leica] Epson xx80 or x900?

The time has come to reveal the identity of my Christmas fantasy object to
SWMBO. I want a wide-carriage printer.

I'm not sure just how long ago Epson upgraded from the 3800/4800 to
3880/4880, but their larger series are now a step beyond this, viz. the 7900
has evolved from the 7880, with 10 colors of UltraChrome HDR inks compared
to the 3880's 8 non-HDR colors.

So, do I ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer for the 3880 (or 4880) for
Christmas, or wait until my birthday in May to see if a 3900 (or 4900) has
emerged? Is the -900 step a real improvement that will filter down to the
3's and 4's?
