This is a fabulous link Mark, thank you , thank you , thank you.

What strikes me most is that he used colour in his paintings, where BW  
was the rule in the photographs ...

I've always considered him as a genius of some sort, as others such as  
Jim Sh...n. by the way.

Using photographs is not new at all, David Hockney had made a  
controvertial case about it, see

But I had lived to this day ignoring he was a photo-realist, and not a  
hyper-realist, which matters much to me, whatever the cause ...
