Yes, the M8 has about 2.2x as much image size as the E-1, and does not have 
the cut filter over the sensor.  However, to me, this is only important if 
one wants to display large images.  For use on the web, or for smaller 
prints, it is possible to detect the difference in resolution, but not to 
the extent that it really matters, or, in my case, justifies the much larger 
investment.  I just use Leica-R lenses and enjoy the results.
