I used the late 250mm f/4 Telyt for a few years. Good close-focus limit,
good rotating tripod mount, excellent flare control, good color quality, too
much lateral chromatic aberation for my taste, and most of the time 250mm
was just a tiny bit too short for my use, where the 280 works fine.

Optically, the 280mm f/4 APO is in another league, simply mind-boggling from
corner to corner at full aperture. The 280 also focusses closer, and the
tripod mount and the focussing ring are even better than the 250's. Bokeh
is mostly comparable, I'd say the 280 is a little smoother. The 280 APO is
one I'll give up only if it can be pried from my cold, dead hands.
