Peter, sorry I didn't follow all the threads, but if you think all your
photos are consistently soft in focus and lens, then chances are it may be
your techniques or eyeglasses may be needed.

What I would do, is to put the camera on a tripod and focus near, mid, and
far, each time as carefully as you can, then do it a again with the normal
way you shoot.

Use the same film and light condition that you typically would use. Jog down
the aperture and shutter. Obviously we assume that your shutter is of a
reasonable value, e.g. 1/speed of the lens. Try a couple different aperture
values.

Use that with at least one camera and 2 lens. Ideally, at least 2 cameras
with the same 2 lens. Use 3 lens if you have the patience and film.

Check the results carefully.

I think doing this experiment first will help deciding what the cause of
action is.
