Bob, of course Adobe wants you to upgrade to PS5--but not to worry, the 
worst thing that can happen is that the "Edit in Photoshop" function in LR 
will not function correctly. Nothing prevents you from exporting an image as 
a TIFF file from LR3 and working on it in whichever version of Photoshop you 
have. I also have PS3 and have no intention of upgrading it.
