Peter, you are describing very large focus errors. I'm not sure how you
judge the error exactly at those smaller apertures with your setup but those
error numbers ARE huge.
I did read in your previous posts that you have had other focus issues with
I think an M6 and possibly an M3 with some other lenses as well. Is it
possible to have someone else shoot with your lenses and/or cameras for
comparisons too? Worth a look.

I don't understand how you are seeing an X when focusing on an angled line.
Do you mean that the vertical that you are focusing on is diagonal to the RF
patch? You should be seeing a parallel angled line or lines within the RF
patch. It may be that I am misunderstanding your description. Usually the
focus test targets (graduated scale) are exactly perpendicular to the lens
axis and centred in the horizontal plane too but sloped away in the vertical
plane. That is how it is done on the massive jig in Solms also (with a set
of targets at precise defined distances).

I went back through your posts to try to work out how you ended up being
charged when you thought that the lens adjustments would be free. I think
that you spoke by phone to Andrea which is when she indicated that they may
be done free? Just guessing, perhaps she thought they may be in their
warranty period as mine were.

You sent the lenses separately from your M8 but they were to be checked with
your M8 and returned together? Were you not sent an estimate for approval
for the lenses work then as you were for the camera? You would have sent
the standard form that I shared from my applications where you authorise
repair up to a certain amount or indicate warranty or an existing case, etc.

I know I always seem to be stepping up to support Leica but SOMETIMES the
torches and pitchforks come out immediately for what proves to be a
mis-understanding or honest mistake on either side or all of the facts are
not known. I certainly believe that reversing the credit card payment would
be drastic and unwarranted.

 I'll be quiet now :-)

Cheers
Geoff
