The 21mm, ultra wide, is a great focal length. The trick is to get close.
Then you can get dramatic action shots and or suck in a lot of environment
in environmental portraiture.

The reason to have the 1.4 is the same reason you want the 50/1.4 ASPH - you
can then have a lens that can work indoor and outdoor, with much less limit
than the 2.8 or slower lens. Although I'd say a 21/2 would be quite sweet.
The problem there is that with only one stop faster than the Elmarit, it may
get lost and not gain traction. OTOH, I'd have chosen a smaller and lighter
/F2 if it is available

As for size, it's no worse than the 75/1.4, the 90/AA and the various Nocti
or Nokton. I hike with it for 7+ hours with no problem.
