You probably would fry the M8 circuitry, which is not built for high 
currrents...like a few hundred MA.....

Modern IC Electronic circuiitry does not like high currrents.. nor high 
voltages.. nor capacitors with voltages on them.....all of which are 
possibilities with your flash bulbs....

And Leica will have no idea....

Measuring the peak current and voltage of a flashbulb during the flash may 
not be so easy to meassure without the right equipment....and you could be 
fooled easily into thinking it is safe for an M8...
