You mean converting non AI to AI.  AI-s lenses (in addition to an extra post 
and scallop) have a different aperture control rate (linear versus 
logrithmic).  You can't convert AI to AI-s.

(Metering is overrated on digital bodies anyway. I rarely if ever use it. i 
start with a guess and adjust through histogram, I suspect most luggers are 
the same way.)
