My sister took me to one of my first live concerts in 1989, which was Midnight Oil at the Southport Spit. Peter Garrett, the lead singer of Midnight Oil, is now a member of the Australian House of Representatives, the lower house of our government. He ran with The Australian Labor party, the centre-left Australian political party, which competes against the centre-right Liberal/National coalition. He has repealed many of his former strongly held views and is widely regarded as a sell-out.
