They all had one thing in common, they were Seagate. The one I bought this summer lasted about a month before it started squealing. I just built a portable eSATA drive using this drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136692 and this enclosure: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/EZ%20Quest/N33200/ To assemble took less than 5 minutes. Nice thing about building your own drive is you know what drive is in the enclosure. Harrison.
