Bob...that shot is one reason why I traded my entire R8/9/Lens kit for a 5d
Mk IIa with the same (surprisingly useful) kit lens and the new 70-200 USM.
Sure, the 24-105 ain't the R28-90 Asph but it really gets the job done for
me - and obviously - for you.

Try as I might, my (somewhat older) eyes and hands couldn't get shots like
that to appear as I saw them through the viewfinder of the R8/9, mostly due
to film scan resolution and a general lack of skill.

I toyed with an adaptor for my Leica R lenses but in the end, the 5D Mk II
kit just made more sense for me.

I remember that spot well. I attended the (then) Army Language School for a
year in the mid-'60's, studying Farsi (Persian). In good weather we would
blast out of the Presidio at lunch time over to Carmel just in time to eat a
quick lunch on the public beach and watch the, er, sea life.

That's an iconic shot of the bay if I ever saw one.

Lovely.

Regards,

Bob

(NOT from my iPhone 4 - it's sitting next to my MacBook Pro while I do
keyboard-intense business stuff in the Subaru dealer's waiting room using
their free WiFi. My, how times are a-changin'...)
