Thanks Peter. Yes, indeed the Carlsberg elephant bears the Indian symbol. 
The company's founder in the 19th century, Carl Jacobsen, adopted it. As far 
as I know, it also appeared on the beer labels until it was dropped, for 
obvious reasons, after 1945.
