The only thing I would add would be to wait a week or two for Apple to launch their back to school program. You will get a free iPod with a laptop purchase. There is also talk they may let you apply the $200 credit toward an iPad purchase instead. The advise about software is good too. My kids are both at a small university and got Office for free. My wife is on staff at University of Michigan and can purchase the suite for $42.00. I also agree Pro over standard MacBook.
