That's because there are different "right way" to do it.

The primary factor in this case is whether your laptop is calibrated
enough so that you will be doing serious editing. If so, then you want
to incorporate the editing changes.

If not, then you can always just use it to sort out the obvious bad
ones and do an import of the good photos when you are back.
