Leica basically did go bankrupt several times, but was small enough for one rich guy to step in an rescue it. Apple had Steve Jobs. Coca Cola had a product that people kept buying. There is no seismic technological shift with soft drinks. Kodak, unfortunately, is more like Polaroid--unable to cope with a major technological shift that rendered its main product commercially unviable (at least on the scale necessary).
