Great shots as usual, Jim.  Love the bumble bee approach.

Looks like a painted lady to me.  I have not seen one of those for years. 
Butterflies in general have been quite scarce in recent years.  Maybe living 
in a highly agricultural area is the reason.  Too much spraying of the 
orchards.  Makes you wonder about what it is doing to us two legged animals.

When I approached the butterfly bush this morning, the first thing I saw was 
a humming bird, but she left quickly.  Then I noticed a butterfly that I had 
not seen before.  Online research informed me that it is some form of 
Painted Lady.

There was a lone bumble bee working the Rose of Sharon blooms.  Here, he 
makes his approach.
