PESO:

Well, we're back! After a very different trip than we had planned. We
thought we would spend the entire two weeks hiking the Cinque Terre and
packed accordingly - hiking boots, walking sticks, jeans and backpacks.
Luckily, we only booked a room for three nights in Verazzano and planned
to make the rest up as we went along. This is what we ran into on the
trails:

On the Cinque Terre trails, we were slightly over-dressed in our hiking
boots and jeans:

It was so packed with tourists, it was hard to move on the blue trails,
down by the water, so after a day of "hiking" we moved up to the strenuous
red trails over the hills. That cut down on the people but also included
miles of hiking through steep forest trails with no views. (Some views
were incredible and worth the hike, though!) So we changed our plans and
rented a car, drove to Lucca and asked the tourism office about
Agritourism. They sent us to a 400 acre farm where they were harvesting
grapes and that's where we spent the remainder of the time. It was
absolutely wonderful. I have 4000 photos to edit. This was our farm:

I'm not sure about the logic of traveling from a farm in South Carolina to
vacation on a farm in Italy, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The family made
us feel right at home. There was a restaurant on the property where
grandma made homemade pasta every night. I gained about 10 pounds. We did
do a lot of hiking in the hills around the farm and visited Lucca and some
other hill towns.

Photos to come after I finished editing them and washing clothes and buying
groceries......

Missed you all!

Tina
