Hi Jim,

I thought I recalled that the L-4 was the Army version of the Cub, with the 
side door on the right, and a fixed window on the left.  I'm not sure what 
you encountered with rope door guards.  Possibly an observation version.

The L-4 was popular.  Even Gen. Eisenhower flew it.
