I've always found hip packs harder on the hip joints
than most small shoulder packs are on shoulders and spines.
Shoulder packs can move from shoulder to shoulder to share the weight over
time.

My every day pack, with M8, two lenses, wallets and note books
is an Eagle Creek bag with hidden, zip away belt and shoulder strap.
When walking all day I have the option to share the weight between
both shoulders, and the hips;
alternating as well as using both the shoulder and hip at the same time.

works really well for my aging joints, and decreasing cartilage;
works so well that I've attempted to find a second copy;
unfortunately has been unavailable for quite some time.

If I needed another every day pack I'd be looking for something very similar
though.
