I, and many others, seem to have got adequate DoF off the M9 ;-) As for 
Tri-X, if you expose and process for the Zone system with a densitometer you 
will find that the base speed is 160asa! I have used the extra speed of the 
MM but it was not a decider in buying it, base asa is fine for most of my 
subjects and way faster than FP4/Velvia that I used to use - and use with no 
issues.....

With the new Leica M as well as the Monochrom you're able to both capture 
the action and get depth of field. That's not what you could do with an M9 
before and not what you can do with the ME now as long as they make them 
which wont be long. A great investment for collectors. Your Leica bellies 
will be going up up up with their rarity.

They are under the idea that there is a contingent of people who think Leica 
is selling out by going CMOS and they are playing to that.
I think they are going to find that that group is close to non existent.
But they are more so playing to a group who will be put off by the 
comparatively phantasmagorically high tech features of the Leica M digital.
People who think all those "Man from Uncle" add on's you are somehow being 
forced to buy and that you can not take them off have have something which 
looks like a real Leica M of decades gone by. Or your you cant just switch 
them off.
Buying an ME at this point is a block headed way to waste several grand.
The CMOS in the new M digital will make for a Leica digital camera which 
from a functionality standpoint leaved the CCD sensor in the dust.
The Leica is foremost a hand held street camera. And the streets are dark 
50% of the time. And the night time is the right time to be with the one you 
love. And catch the best shots. Also lots of times instead of outdoors 
you're indoors. Things happen inside a lot too. In low light. Perfect for 
Leica optics and Leica rangefinder configuration.
An ME is a Leica M with pulled tri x in it you can never take out. As is an 
M9.
While the M is a Leica M with pushed Tmax 3200 in it but with the quality of 
plus X.  its functionality is miles ahead of the ME or 9 to even consider 
those camera means you really have your head in the sand are are totally out 
of the loupe. Not necessarily in that order.
