The US fought 67 major Indian wars; the Canadians fought none. They negotiated their way across the territory. The Sioux, after wiping out Custer and his men, went across the border to Canada because they knew the Canadians would put them up for the night rather than shoor them. However, the lesson of Vimy is clear: Canadians are an inherently reasonable bunch...but do NOT rile 'em up.
