It seems to me that you have no experience in these matters beyond the DP Review sort of forum. For example, there is a Nikon pro list called "d1scussion" where Nikon is roundly criticized half the time, both for product deficiencies as well as after sales service. Quite a few top level Nikon employees of Nikon USA are members of the list, contribute frequently, listen to the criticism very seriously, and work very diligently at smoothing out problems, especially service inadequacies. Any sensible organization needs feedback from customers, and do not react negatively when they hear it - in fact most companies that I have dealt with over the years welcome it as a way to improve their product and after sales service, which is essential to survive. Without a satisfied customer to buy your product, what do you have left? The best customers are satisfied, returning customers - the cost of acquisition of such customers is virtually nil...
