Yes NYC is no longer a dangerous city like it was for many years.
I got here in 2006 and a week later on the radio I heard where they started
a thing where if they catch you with a gun you go directly to jail do not
pass go do not collect 200 dollars. That made me feel a little better.
Crime is illegal in NY.
Last time I was here in the '70s there were people laying on the sidewalk
twitching and people would step over them. And everything was covered with
graffiti. Totally covered. Everything.
I think what happened is they just built a whole lot of prisons. Maybe they
are underground upstate. You think a dark thought you disappear never to be
seen or heard from again. I'm all for it. My wild days are over. And I don't
want anybody else to have any fun like I did.

A couple of weeks ago in Times Square Elmo or maybe it was Capt Crunch
pulled a knife and walked down the middle of 42nd street and the police
gunned him down like a dog. They really have no sense of humor about that
kind of thing its bad for tourism. The knife thing. Not the dozen police
Glocks which took him down in a hail of bullets with hundreds of people
standing around recording it with their cell phones.
