A picture of the upperside with the markings, even a serial number, could be interesting. A picture of both sides and underside might be interesting too. There might be a coupling for a motor or a winder systhem. Can you see any markings mentionning Germany, Canada or maybe New-York? In my opinion, if from Leitz or Leica, it would probably be a scientific or medical appliance. Such productions where limited and there is no widespread information or litterature about such things. In Wetzlar and Solms remembrance and infos fade away when those who made them go to retirement.
