Peter,

I had surgery on both eyes at once in October 2011, fully satisfactory,
don't worry at all. I've said to the Dr. that my main concern was to focus
accurately my camera, than he has decided put a lens for medium distance, I
know I need glasses for read (short distances) but I can focus perfectly!
The Dr. has said me that he was not recommend me a progressive lens, it is
not the correct lens for accurate focusing.

Be well and my best wishes, everything will goes well
Lluis
