Yes, I'm amazed at its size too, and there appears to be a market for it! 
That said all cars seem bigger than their predecessors these days.

Leica is going the same way. The M240 is bigger than the M9 per reports on 
this list. However, I wonder is the lllc the new styling influence and 
sizing influence on their Mini?? Anyway, I'm sure it will be a success as 
people will pay strong prices for a more accessible red dot, and the 
reduction to an APC size sensor will reduce, at a stroke, manufacturing 
costs and probably user reliability problems.
