Might as well let it out of the bag; I am not a professional photographer.
Full time architect, interior designer, landscape designer and international
arbitrator.
Made some extra income by being commissioned to do marketing videos for my
projects.

One famous architect was once asked of his secret of his success. His
succinct answer was, "Get that next job."

My company has close to 900 professional architects, engineers, interior,
landscape designers and other design specialists. We see the "demise" of
many sole proprietorships and smaller entries. We are being challenged by
other large consultancy firms internationally in all our 10 overseas units.

And like Jayanand rightly said, many of us moved on by closing down business
models that will die off eventually due to the inescapable Darwinian laws.
And it is companies like us that has grown from less than 200 strong to
under 900 in less than 10 years that at this time got its business model
right. While some single-person outfits operate for over 40 years and will
die with their founders.

I believe the same thing is happening with the business of photojournalism.
Changes are the only constant, they say.

Yes, "get that next job" is the only mantra that I know works for certain
whatever profession we may be in.

Good luck too!
