You can't get more local than my own yard! We have either pear juice or tomato juice, home canned, for breakfast every morning instead of orange or grapefruit juice that we can't raise here. I have an Omega Juicer that is so easy to use. You don't have to peel or seed anything and you get thick, delicious juices. All of the pulp and seeds go to the chickens. All of the chutneys and preserves get either eaten or given away. My most popular canned good is pepper butter. I can't keep enough of that on the shelves. Everybody who has tried it asks for more. Tom keeps telling me that I don't have to work so hard to can everything we raise, but it is so much better than anything you can get in the grocery store and I love having all of those stocked shelves in the basement. We just bought our 7th steel shelving unit from Lowes to hold all of the jars!
