I will use auto iso (with required aperture priority) when I'm shooting
fast (like of Leo!). Otherwise it's set at base ISO and either exposure
compensation or manual exposure will be used.
So options are good!! Of course it's not quite as good as many DSLRs out
there where you can simply set exposure manually (speed and aperture) and
the camera will adjust the ISO...

BTW, Tina, with the M240 you have two other metering options (spot and
"advanced"), but they are only available with live view (either the back
LCD or external viewer). I've tried advanced and it works pretty well in
difficult situations...
