OK Ric, I'm now guessing Packard based on the bonnet ornament, but non 
marque versions of those things were sold at the time. You're just going to 
have to go back and investigate further. Very disappointing :-)

The bike is a Harley badged Aermacchi two stroke from the late 60s - 
probably a M65 but it may be a M50. Around that time, Aermacchi made some 
lovely racing four strokes - the flat single 350cc which was quite amazing 
for a pushrod machine and ably ridden by the late Brian Steenson and Kel 
Carruthers. Always wanted one.
